Key Takeaways
Jaipur, April 20 (NationPress) Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma declared that April 17 was marked as a momentous and illustrious day for the nation with the enactment of the amendment to the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. However, he criticized the opposition for transforming this milestone into a “dark chapter” for women in India.
He firmly stated that women nationwide will not easily forget the opposition's actions and expressed his belief that Prime Minister Modi will guarantee that the “half of the population” receives their full and rightful rights.
During the Mahila Jan Akrosh Yatra in Jaipur, which he officially launched, CM Sharma underscored that the rich heritage of India has consistently honored women with the utmost respect. He noted that the BJP government took the initiative to introduce this legislation in Parliament to enhance women's roles in governance. Nevertheless, the Congress, Trinamool Congress, and Samajwadi Party, driven by a dynastic outlook, collaborated to hinder the amendment's passage.
He warned that the opposition will face significant backlash for their attempts to diminish women's rights and ambitions.
CM Sharma also pointed out that the Congress party has historically opposed crucial national measures, including the abrogation of Article 370 and the establishment of the Uniform Civil Code. Additionally, he accused the party of questioning the military's efforts during ‘Operation Sindoor’.
Reiterating the government’s dedication to empowering women, he mentioned that under Prime Minister Modi's leadership since 2014, numerous initiatives have been launched to support women, such as Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao, Ujjwala Yojana, Lakhpati Didi, and the Pradhan Mantri Jan-Dhan Yojana.
He emphasized that realizing the vision of a developed India and Rajasthan is not feasible without the active involvement of women in leadership and policymaking.
Earlier, Deputy Chief Minister Diya Kumari also spoke to the crowd, denouncing the opposition's position as disgraceful and asserting that women will respond robustly.
“Under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam was proposed in Parliament to boost women's participation; however, the opposition's resistance to this initiative is profoundly shameful. Their actions have deprived ordinary women of their rightful opportunities. We will not tolerate such disrespect,” she stated.
“This rally will send a powerful message to these anti-women political factions,” she added.
The event saw the participation of various leaders, including Minister of State Manju Baghmar, MP Manju Sharma, and BJP Mahila Morcha State President Rakhi Rathore, alongside numerous party members and a significant number of women.
