Jaipur, April 20 (NationPress) Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma on Monday accused opposition parties of making attempts to undermine women’s rights and aspirations, emphasizing that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is dedicated to ensuring complete rights and representation for women.

While addressing the launch of the Mahila Jan Akrosh Yatra in Jaipur, CM Sharma remarked that the recent passage of the amendment bill concerning the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam on April 17 should have been a “historic moment” for women, but opposition parties endeavored to derail it.

He stated that political parties with a “dynastic mindset” opposed the legislation in Parliament and would now encounter a robust reaction from women nationwide. “In our culture, women have always held the highest status. The government introduced this law to ensure their active participation in policymaking, yet some parties tried to obstruct it,” he asserted.

“The dignity of women has always been revered in our culture. Our BJP government presented the 'Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam' in Parliament to facilitate women’s active engagement in policymaking. However, parties driven by a dynastic mentality, specifically the Congress, TMC, and Samajwadi Party, collectively sought to sabotage this pivotal legislation. The opposition will have to suffer serious consequences for this conspiracy against women’s rights and their aspirations,” he stated.

The Chief Minister further condemned the opposition for resisting significant decisions made by the Central government, including the abrogation of Article 370 and the implementation of the Uniform Civil Code. He accused opposition leaders of questioning the actions of the Indian Army during Operation Sindoor. Highlighting the Central government’s initiatives since 2014, CM Sharma mentioned several schemes aimed at empowering women, such as Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, Ujjwala Yojana, Lakhpati Didi, and Pradhan Mantri Jan-Dhan Yojana.

He asserted that the vision of a “Developed India and Developed Rajasthan” cannot be realized without women’s involvement in governance and leadership.

Deputy Chief Minister Diya Kumari also criticized the opposition, labeling their position on the Women’s Reservation Bill as “unfortunate” and “an insult to women”.

She indicated that the rally aimed to convey a strong message against what she termed “anti-women politics”.

The Mahila Jan Akrosh Yatra saw participation from numerous leaders, including Minister of State Manju Baghmar, MP Manju Sharma, and BJP Mahila Morcha State President Rakhi Rathore, alongside party workers and women from various societal sectors.
