Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Amaravati, April 16 (NationPress) - The Deputy Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Pawan Kalyan, announced on Thursday that the introduction of the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam Amendment Bill 2026, championed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, marks a monumental stride in ensuring women receive their rightful representation in governance through a 33% reservation in legislative positions.
Kalyan emphasized that the Jana Sena Party has consistently advocated for women's empowerment, translating promises into tangible actions.
“Our vow for a 33% reservation for women, made during the 2019 elections, illustrates our commitment to equal opportunities and fair representation,” stated the leader on ‘X’.
“Women constitute the backbone of our society. Their unparalleled contributions in nurturing families and shaping the nation are indispensable. A woman’s success translates into national progress. This initiative transcends the mere granting of rights; it aims to reclaim what is inherently women’s. Empowered women nurture empowered families, and empowered families foster a robust nation. Henceforth, Nari Shakti will evolve from a mere slogan to a powerful testament of our societal strength. Let us unite under the spirit of Shakti to forge a just, equitable, and empowered India,” said Pawan Kalyan.
He also highlighted, “Today, Bharat celebrates the ascendant force of Nari Shakti in every aspect of life. In this national evolution, R Vaishali has made history by winning the Women’s Candidates Tournament in Cyprus, becoming the first Indian woman to earn the right to compete for the Women’s World Chess Championship.”
The actor-turned-politician remarked that from the chessboard to the Olympic stage, Indian women continue to motivate the nation—be it through President Droupadi Murmu enhancing governance and public service, Ritu Karidhal showcasing scientific prowess in India’s space missions, or P.V. Sindhu and Mirabai Chanu elevating national pride through their historic athletic achievements.
“This empowerment journey is rooted in the constitutional principles established by the founding mothers of the Indian Constitution, including Dakshayani Velayudham, Hansa Mehta, Durgabai Deshmukh, Vijaya Lakshmi Pandit, and Rajkumari Amrit Kaur, whose invaluable contributions ensured dignity, equality, and justice for generations of Indian women. These milestones embody a profound truth: when opportunity intersects with talent, women lead, excel, and inspire nations,” he concluded.
