Women-led Startups Flourishing in Over 600 Districts Across India: Jitin Prasada

New Delhi, Dec 9 (NationPress) Startups driven by women are flourishing across more than 600 districts in India's tech landscape, according to Minister of State for Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) Jitin Prasada.

Prasada highlighted that over half of the startups in these districts are spearheaded by women.

He made these remarks during the inauguration of the 4th edition of the India Internet Governance Forum (IIGF) at Bharat Mandapam.

This year’s theme, “Innovating Internet Governance for India,” underscores the country’s determination to utilize the Internet for sustainable, inclusive, and equitable growth.

He also pointed out how governmental initiatives have bridged the digital divide, bringing technology to rural areas and opening doors for everyone.

“Currently, 95 percent of our villages are connected to 3G-4G networks, and our startup ecosystem has expanded to over 600 districts, with more than half being led by women,” Prasada remarked.

Prasada acknowledged the swift advancements India has made in digital transformation, stating it serves as a model for the world.

With a population of over 1.4 billion and nearly 1 billion Internet users, India has emerged as a dynamic digital economy, establishing global standards in innovation and inclusivity.

“India's transformative journey over the last decade, characterized by achievements like UPI, Aadhaar, and the Bharat Net project, serves as a template for other nations,” he expressed.

The Minister emphasized the importance of collaborative efforts in shaping digital policies that embody the values of equality, transparency, and sustainability, ensuring the Internet continues to be a positive force.

This includes the significant role of artificial intelligence, as the Minister outlined the government’s ambition to position India as a global leader in AI.

“Our vision is to create AI in India and make AI beneficial for India as well as AI for all,” he stated.

The event served as a vibrant platform for dialogue and action, bringing together policymakers, industry leaders, and civil society to deliberate on the future of Internet governance.
