This declaration was made during the launch of the official logos and themes for the "Sagar Mein Yog – Complete Wellness Programme" and "Sagar Mein Samman" at The Shipping Corporation of India (SCI) in Mumbai on Thursday.
The Minister highlighted the significance of this initiative in commemorating and supporting female seafarers who often encounter unique challenges while working away from their homes. He also stressed the profound link between yoga and Indian culture.
Thakur mentioned that this program could substantially aid the approximately 300,000 active seafarers who face unique hurdles while on duty far from home.

Moreover, Sagar Mein Yog emphasizes wellness at all stages by incorporating yoga and well-being practices into maritime training and operations, including pre-sea, at-sea, and post-sea stages, ensuring that seafarers maintain resilience, balance, and readiness for every journey.
Shyam Jaganathan, Director General of Shipping, asserted that the Maritime India Vision 2030 represents hope by uplifting women seafarers and steering India towards maritime excellence.
The "Sagar Mein Samman" initiative emerged from this vision, aiming to boost the recognition and respect given to women in the maritime sector.
By monitoring health outcomes, Sagar Mein Yog will continually refine and expand its services to cater to the evolving needs of seafarers.
