Previously, in 2022, Hubballi experienced severe unrest following a controversial post. The city erupted in violence, with a crowd engaging in stone-pelting due to a provocative “WhatsApp status” shared by a youth.
The content depicted a manipulated image of a saffron flag on a mosque, causing damage to public property and injuring multiple police officers during the chaos.
A total of forty individuals were detained due to the incident, with security measures heightened and prohibitory orders enacted for four days.
