The train, which was traveling on the Kiul-Bhagalpur railway line, came to a halt following the incident, prompting passengers to evacuate in alarm. The deceased has been recognized as Dharmendra Kumar Sahu, a resident of Mahisona village in Lakhisarai block.

Dharmendra was positioned in the general compartment adjacent to the engine when the train left Kiul railway station.

As per police reports, an individual who was already aboard the train purportedly shot him in the head and subsequently leapt off the train near the Kiul station's outer signal, escaping from the scene.

Upon receiving the alert, a contingent of railway police, commanded by Kiul Railway DSP Jagir, arrived and commenced their investigation.

"The victim was located in the general compartment at the time of the incident. The perpetrator fled by jumping off the train near the Kiul outer signal," remarked DSP Jagir.

The event caused considerable alarm among travelers, resulting in the train being halted and passengers disembarking.

Authorities are probing the situation to identify the assailant and uncover the motive behind the act.

“Initial investigations indicate that the incident may be associated with a property dispute. The victim was in possession of property-related documents during the assault,” Jagir stated.

“The victim’s identity has been verified, and his family has been notified regarding the situation,” he added.

A Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team has been summoned to the site to collect evidence and assist in the inquiry. The railway police have alerted local law enforcement to investigate the background of the incident, especially within the victim’s village, to unveil any links to the property dispute.

“We are examining all facets of the incident and exploring every possible angle. A manhunt is underway to apprehend the assailant. The local police have been instructed to look into any property-related issues in the victim’s village,” concluded Jagir.
