New Delhi, Dec 13 (NationPress) Through its extensive research collaborations, public-private partnerships, and active engagement in international forums, CERT-In, the national cyber security agency, is establishing a solid and trustworthy cyber defense structure that aligns with the ‘Digital India’ vision, according to an official statement released on Saturday.
Dr. Sanjay Bahl, the Director General of CERT-In and Controller of Certifying Authorities (CCA) at MeitY, emphasized that CERT-In provides timely alerts and customized advisories to organizations and individuals to safeguard them against emerging threats, ensuring proactive protection without inciting unnecessary fear.
During a session with journalists from Europe, America, and Central Asia, Dr. Bahl elaborated on the agency's critical roles and responsibilities in cyber security, crisis management, vulnerability assessments, information sharing, and collaborative responses to cyber incidents, as well as the empanelment of auditors and specialized training programs across India.
He also highlighted India's swift rise as a global cybersecurity hub, supported by over 400 startups and a skilled workforce exceeding 650,000 professionals, fueling a $20 billion cybersecurity industry.
In this session, he pointed out that these innovators are developing advanced solutions for threat detection, cyber forensics, and AI-driven monitoring systems, further solidifying India’s commitment to a secure and resilient digital landscape.
Dr. Bahl noted that Artificial Intelligence (AI) serves as a double-edged sword—empowering both defenders and adversaries.
He explained how CERT-In utilizes AI-driven analytics and automation to detect, prevent, and respond to cyber incidents in real time while also formulating defenses against malicious AI-enabled attacks.
The visiting journalists were informed about CERT-In’s ongoing drills, capacity-building initiatives, and international collaborations.
Dr. Bahl revealed that India recorded 147 ransomware incidents in 2024, stating that CERT-In’s coordinated actions significantly alleviated their effects through real-time intelligence sharing and forensic interventions.
Krishan Kumar Singh, Joint Secretary at MeitY, showcased various ministry initiatives, including the upcoming ‘India AI Impact Summit’ set for February 2026, policy support for startups creating indigenous cybersecurity solutions, and extensive R&D projects in cybersecurity.
