Key Takeaways
New Delhi, Feb 19 (NationPress) India stands on the brink of a transformative human revolution fueled by purposeful and responsible Artificial Intelligence, according to Vishal Sikka, the founder and CEO of Vianai, who spoke on Thursday.
During the India AI Impact Summit 2026 held here, Sikka emphasized that AI offers a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for the nation.
“India has successfully revamped sectors such as connectivity and food security in a single generation, and now it can usher in a new era through AI,” he remarked.
As the former CEO of Infosys, Sikka asserted that AI has the potential to empower one billion entrepreneurs across the country.
“AI should not merely assist people in making a living; it should enable them to create meaningful lives for themselves and others,” he stated.
Sikka emphasized that India can embark on a genuine human revolution if AI is developed and utilized in a purposeful and responsible manner.
He pointed out the substantial productivity enhancements that AI can achieve when applied correctly. He shared an example of a colleague at Stanford who reconstructed a large service in just 14 days using generative AI—a task that previously took 15 engineers nine months.
He also mentioned a business leader who made a significant strategic decision in a matter of days instead of taking an entire year, all due to AI.
Referring to AI as an “incredible power,” Sikka explained that it provides immediate access to knowledge in any language and can summarize information in various formats.
However, he warned that AI's advantages are not guaranteed. To unlock its true value, users must comprehend both its strengths and limitations.
Sikka, who holds a PhD in AI, noted the considerable gap that remains between large language models and their practical applications within enterprises.
“Closing this gap necessitates the creation of systems that are correct, trustworthy, verifiable, and reliable. Only then can businesses truly harness the benefits of AI,” he stated.
He added that once this gap is bridged, AI can eliminate the complexities of legacy systems in companies and revolutionize entire industries.
“With creativity and responsible execution, AI can streamline processes, enhance productivity, and empower individuals across various sectors,” Sikka concluded.
