PM Modi Emphasizes India's Leadership in AI for Youth Empowerment

New Delhi, Jan 4 (NationPress) As new technologies reshape various sectors, the nation is dedicated to spearheading advancements in artificial intelligence (AI), with an emphasis on innovation and providing opportunities for the youth, stated Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday.

Following a meeting with former Infosys CEO Vishal Sikka, PM Modi described the conversation as enlightening.

"It was an enlightening discussion indeed. India is devoted to leading in AI, focusing on innovation and fostering opportunities for the youth," remarked the Prime Minister.

Earlier that day, Sikka shared on social media platform X that he felt "honored" to meet PM Modi and was "inspired and humbled" by his "remarkable understanding of technology and its implications".

"I was honored to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi for an extensive discussion on AI, its implications for India, and various essential strategies for the future," stated Sikka, founder of the human-centered AI platform and products company Vianai Systems.

"I left the meeting both inspired and humbled by his extraordinary understanding of technology's impact on all of us, and how its application alongside democratic values can uplift everyone," he added.

The nation launched the IndiaAI mission last year to enhance AI-related advancements. The Union Cabinet, led by PM Modi, has sanctioned over Rs 10,300 crore for the IndiaAI Mission, signifying a crucial move towards strengthening the AI ecosystem in the country.

The government reported that nearly 860,000 candidates have enrolled in the IndiaAI ‘Future Skills’ initiative, created in partnership with industry players, to offer training aligned with current demands.

The ‘India Future Skills’ pillar aims to improve India’s readiness for the AI workforce by reducing barriers to entry in AI programs and enhancing the AI talent pipeline.

Additionally, AI Data Labs are being set up in cities such as Gorakhpur, Lucknow, Shimla, Aurangabad, Patna, Buxar, and Muzaffarpur.

Fields like agriculture, education, healthcare, logistics, and the financial sector are expected to gain significantly from AI solutions tailored to the nation’s needs, as per the government.
