How Does SAMPANN-DigiLocker Integration Provide Paperless Documents for Pensioners?
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
New Delhi, Jan 21 (NationPress) - On Wednesday, the government announced that the SAMPANN pension portal, created by the Office of the Controller General of Communication Accounts, has successfully integrated with DigiLocker. This integration allows pensioners to access their Pension Payment Orders (e-PPOs), gratuity sanction orders, and other vital documents at any time through their DigiLocker accounts.
Pensioners affiliated with the Department of Telecommunications have been notified of this significant integration, which is part of the broader Digital India initiative.
Users of SAMPANN can simply input their PPO number in the respective service category and click on 'Get Document'.
The system will then generate the required documents such as the Pension Certificate, Gratuity Payment Order, Commutation Payment Order, or Form-16 based on the user’s request, as stated by the government.
The Ministry of Communications emphasized that this integration enables pensioners to easily retrieve essential documents from SAMPANN, including Communication Sanctions and Form-16 directly through their DigiLocker accounts.
“Available anytime and anywhere via a smartphone or desktop, this facility guarantees secure, paperless access, enhancing transparency, convenience, and ease for vital services like banking and medical reimbursements,” the statement elaborated.
This initiative eradicates the requirement for physical copies, thus conserving time and resources for pensioners across Delhi-NCR and beyond, noted Ashish Joshi, Principal Controller of Communication Accounts, Delhi.
He further remarked that this initiative fosters digital self-reliance among pensioners, in line with the government’s vision for a paperless digital governance.
Pensioners can activate this service by logging into digilocker.gov.in using their Aadhaar, linking their PPO number, and downloading documents instantly.
Launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on December 29, 2018, SAMPANN signifies a transition from a system-centric administration to a pensioner-centric governance model, liberating retirees and their families from the need to visit offices to claim their rightful benefits.
The platform has digitized the entire pension lifecycle — encompassing the initiation and processing of cases to the issuance of e-Pension Payment Orders, disbursement, accounting, reconciliation, financial reporting, audit facilitation, and grievance redressal.
