New Delhi, June 5 (NationPress) On this World Environment Day, Union Ministers passionately called for an end to plastic pollution, urging citizens to adopt sustainable practices and increase tree planting for a healthier planet.
Celebrated annually on June 5, the theme for this year is ‘Beat Plastic Pollution’, emphasizing the urgent need to combat plastic waste.
“As we commemorate #EnvironmentDay today, let’s recommit ourselves to safeguarding our planet and ensuring sustainability for all living beings. Nature thrives when protected,” stated Bhupender Yadav, Union Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC), in a social media statement.
“On this significant day, let’s renew our dedication to environmental protection by planting trees, minimizing pollution, conserving resources, and adopting sustainability. Small actions collectively lead to a greener, healthier, and brighter future for everyone,” added Pralhad Joshi, Union Minister of Consumer Affairs.
Globally, approximately 11 million tonnes of plastic waste enter aquatic ecosystems each year, while microplastics infiltrate soil due to agricultural plastics.
