Synopsis
Key Takeaways
New Delhi, Dec 16 (NationPress) The welfare of workers has consistently been a primary concern of the Government's initiatives, as emphasized by the Union Minister for Labour and Employment, Mansukh Mandaviya, during his remarks on Tuesday.
While officially launching the Labour and Employment Summit–2025 in the capital, he highlighted the importance of effectively implementing the Labour Codes to prioritize the interests of workers. He also underscored the comprehensive discussions held between the government and trade unions in formulating the Codes to incorporate workers' concerns in the legal framework.
Mandaviya remarked, “The Labour Codes assure minimum wages for every worker, mandate the provision of appointment letters, and expand social security coverage to over 40 crore individuals. They guarantee equal rights and opportunities for women, ensuring that no employer or individual can infringe upon the rights of employees.”
While discussing the supportive environment that the Labour Codes will foster in safeguarding workers’ interests, the Minister urged trade unions to keep providing their feedback and encouraged them to educate workers on the transformative potential these Codes hold for their lives.
During the summit, 16 Central Trade Unions convened in favor of the four Labour Codes and reached a consensus to promote awareness about these Codes among workers nationwide, countering misinformation regarding their implementation.
The event, hosted by the Confederation of Central Trade Unions (CONCENT), witnessed trade union representatives affirming their commitment to ensure that the benefits intended by the Labour Codes reach every worker across the nation.
The summit included participation from Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS), National Front of Indian Trade Unions (NFITU), Trade Union Coordinating Committee (TUCC), HMKP, BRMGSU, NLO-INTUC, FFR, AIBEU, NFFWESCI, HMKU, KLU, and FSUI, among the total of 16 central trade unions. Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya honored workers affiliated with trade unions with the “Shram Shakti Samman” for their significant contributions.
