Jamshedpur, Jan 23 (NationPress) Amateur golfer Aditya Garg, hailing from Pune, delivered an impressive performance by carding a second consecutive six-under 65 in Round Two. This brought his total score to 12-under 130, earning him the top position at Pre-Qualifying I of the Professional Golf Tour of India (PGTI) Qualifying School 2025, held at the Golmuri Golf Course on Thursday. Out of a competitive field of 105 players, the top 24 advanced to the Final Qualifying Stage, as the cut was set at one over 143.
The 19-year-old amateur, Aditya Garg (65-65), maintained his lead from Day One and continued to impress at the Golmuri Golf Course, achieving eight birdies across his first 15 holes. His only setback was a double-bogey at the ninth hole, yet he finished four shots ahead of his closest competitor.
Aditya remarked, “I started the day strong with a superb chip that led to a tap-in birdie on the 10th. After that, I made a long putt on the 17th and created several opportunities, landing the ball within 10 to 12 feet of the pin on most holes. Prior to the Q School, I made some swing adjustments, and I am thrilled that they held up under pressure during both rounds, allowing me to execute my shots effectively. This is a significant confidence boost for my ball-striking as I head into the Final Stage.”
Sourav Choudhary (69-65) from Mhow finished in second place with a score of eight-under 134. Local player Kurush Heerjee qualified for the Final Stage by securing a tied 18th position at one-over 143.
In the opening round, Aditya Garg also shot a six-under 65, achieving the lead with seven birdies and one bogey. This was his first attempt at the PGTI Q School, where he showcased his skill by consistently positioning the ball near the flag for birdie opportunities.
The PGTI Qualifying School 2025 is scheduled from January 22 to February 7 at the Golmuri Golf Course in Jamshedpur. The First Stage comprises three Pre-Qualifying events of 36 holes each, taking place from January 22 to February 1. The Final Stage, a 72-hole event, will occur from February 4 to 7.
