Jamshedpur, Jan 28 (NationPress) The talented teenage amateur Shat Mishra from Delhi recorded an impressive five-under 66, securing the top position after the first round of Pre-Qualifying II at the Professional Golf Tour of India (PGTI) Qualifying School 2025, hosted at the Golmuri Golf Course on Tuesday.
This 19-year-old golfer, representing the DLF Golf & Country Club in Gurugram but residing in Delhi, showcased his skills throughout the day, making birdies on three out of four par-5 holes.
Mishra, previously ranked as the No. 1 junior golfer in India, also excelled by landing the ball within five feet to create birdie opportunities on the 17th and seventh holes, both of which are par-3s, as reported by the PGTI in a release.
Starting from the 10th tee on Tuesday, Shat remarked, “I began slowly due to the chilly morning conditions. I aimed for maximum regulations and focused on creating birdie chances. I gained momentum after the turn, making three birdies consecutively. Most importantly, I finished the day strong and maintained a clean card. My previous successful performance at Golmuri in November gives me extra confidence.”
In second place was Md Muaj from Bangladesh with a score of four-under 67.
Out of a total of 119 competitors, the top 25 players (including ties) will qualify for the Final Qualifying Stage from this 36-hole event, with a total of three Pre-Qualifying events taking place.
In Pre-Qualifying I, Pune-based amateur Aditya Garg performed well. From a field of 105 in Pre-Qualifying I, the top 24 players advanced to the Final Qualifying Stage, as the cut was set at one-over 143.
