Jamshedpur, January 21 (NationPress) The PGTI Qualifying School 2025 is set to take place from January 22 to February 7, 2025, at the Golmuri Golf Course. The initial stage will consist of three Pre-Qualifying events, each comprising 36 holes, taking place from January 22 to February 1. Following this, the Final Stage, a 72-hole tournament, will occur from February 4 to 7.

This Qualifying School marks the commencement of the PGTI season and is a pivotal event on the PGTI calendar as it serves as the exclusive path for players to qualify for the PGTI tour in a given season. This year, the event is expected to attract approximately 408 golfers, as per the PGTI announcement made on Tuesday.

In addition to Indian participants, this year's Qualifying School will include around 32 international golfers hailing from 15 different countries. The foreign representation includes 10 players from Bangladesh, eight from the USA, two from Indonesia, and one each from South Korea, Australia, Uganda, New Zealand, Italy, South Africa, the UK, Japan, Austria, Canada, Germany, and Nepal. Notably, Indonesia will be represented at the PGTI Q School for the very first time.

The First Stage consists of three separate 36-hole events: Pre-Qualifying I, II, and III. Pre-Qualifying I is scheduled for January 22-23, Pre-Qualifying II will occur on January 28-29, and Pre-Qualifying III is set for January 31 - February 1. From the 105 players in Pre-Qualifying I, the top 20 players and ties will advance to the Final Stage. In Pre-Qualifying II, among 123 players, the top 25 players and ties will qualify, while in Pre-Qualifying III, 132 players will compete, with the top 27 players and ties moving on to the Final Stage.

Qualifiers from the First Stage will join 48 exempt players for the Final Stage, slated for February 4-7. This 72-hole Final Stage will feature the top 120 players and ties.

The top 80 players and ties will make the halfway cut after two rounds in the Final Stage. Ultimately, the top 32 players and ties will secure their full cards for the 2025 PGTI season. The Final Stage has a total prize purse of INR 5 lakh.
