Amir Hussain Lone Expresses Gratitude to Adani Foundation for Realizing His Vision of a Cricket Academy

Chandigarh, Dec 29 (NationPress) Para-cricketer Amir Hussain Lone from Jammu & Kashmir expressed his heartfelt appreciation on Sunday to Gautam Adani, the chairman of the Adani Group, and the Adani Foundation for their unwavering support in making his dream of establishing a cricket academy in his native town, Waghama-Bijbehara, Anantnag, a reality.
This indoor facility is designed to empower underprivileged children to chase their aspirations in sports. The Adani Foundation has generously allocated Rs 67.6 lakh for the construction of the indoor cricket academy.
Amir, a 34-year-old para-cricketer, expressed his gratitude towards Priti Adani, the chairperson of the Adani Foundation, commending the industrialist's commitment to discovering and nurturing more talents like him.
"I had no funds to purchase a bat, and I witnessed the same struggle among many young aspirants. Hence, I envisioned creating this academy where children like me can receive free coaching. I extend my deepest thanks to Gautam Adani sir, Priti Adani ma'am, the Adani Foundation, and Jeet Adani sir. My dream is being realized solely due to Gautam Adani sir," Amir shared with IANS on Sunday.
"Currently, we are training 30 kids, and once the indoor stadium is completed, it will benefit many others. Not just para-athletes but all aspiring athletes will receive training here," he added.
Originating from Waghama-Bijbehara in Anantnag district, Amir serves as the captain of the Jammu & Kashmir para-cricket team and has been engaged in professional cricket since 2013.
At the young age of 8, Amir tragically lost both his arms in an accident at his father’s sawmill. Nevertheless, he remained steadfast in his pursuit of dreams. With remarkable determination, he developed a unique playing technique—balancing the bat between his shoulder and neck to strike the ball and using his toes to bowl spin deliveries.
"My team is greatly inspired by Amir Hussain Lone's resolve and bravery. Priti Adani ji has conveyed her best wishes to Amir, praising his dedication to establishing a cricket facility in Anantnag, which will cater to both able-bodied and specially-abled athletes. Gautam Adani ji is personally moved by Amir's commitment to overcoming all obstacles," stated Rupesh K Singh, Head of Corporate Affairs Punjab & Haryana at the Adani Group.
Earlier this year, Gautam Adani commended Amir's indomitable spirit in a post on X (formerly Twitter), affirming that the Adani Foundation would extend every possible assistance in his unique journey, recognizing his struggles as a source of inspiration for all.
