Army to Host Junior National Equestrian Championships in Delhi

New Delhi, Dec 21 (NationPress) The top equestrian talent of the nation will gather for the Junior National Equestrian Championship (JNEC) 2024 – Children I & Young Rider at the Army Polo & Riding Centre (APRC) located in Delhi Cantt starting this Sunday. This prestigious event is slated to occur in two segments: from December 22–24 and again from December 26–29.

The initial phase of the Championship has attracted a remarkable total of 507 entries, which includes 470 individual riders and 37 teams, competing across various categories for Children-I and Young Riders in Dressage, Show Jumping, and Tent Pegging. This robust participation highlights the increasing enthusiasm for equestrian sports in India.

Commenting on this Championship, Col. Jaiveer Singh, Secretary General of the Equestrian Federation of India (EFI), stated: "The National Equestrian Championship 2024 demonstrates the great talent and rising interest in equestrian sports within India. The significant number of participants showcases the dedication and effort of our riders, especially the younger generation. We are honored to offer this platform for these athletes to exhibit their talents and establish new standards in the sport."

The Dressage segment will include 30 Individual and 7 Team competitors in the Children-I category, along with 10 Individual and 3 Teams in the Young Rider category. Show Jumping has garnered considerable interest, featuring 127 Individual and 23 Teams in Children-I (Normal), 119 Individual participants in Children-I (Side Event), and 21 Individual participants each in the Young Rider (Normal) and Side Event categories. Furthermore, Tent Pegging, celebrated for its dynamism and accuracy, will include Lance (39 Individual), Ring & Peg (33 Individual), Sword (36 Individual), and Lemon & Peg (34 Individual).

The thrilling action is set to kick off at 8:30 AM on Sunday with the vibrant Show Jumping events, followed by the elegant precision of Dressage and the skilled artistry of Tent Pegging, all amidst the lively atmosphere of the equestrian community.
