Hobart, Nov 2 (NationPress) Former Indian fast bowler Varun Aaron expressed admiration for the stellar fast bowling pairing of Arshdeep Singh and Jasprit Bumrah following the visitors' remarkable five-wicket victory over Australia in the third T20I. He emphasized that having two of the world's premier pace bowlers is an enormous advantage for the team led by Suryakumar Yadav.
In the match, Arshdeep recorded figures of 3-35 while Bumrah allowed just 26 runs in his four overs. Although Bumrah did not claim any wickets, together they showcased a masterclass in executing yorkers and low full tosses, conceding only 16 runs in the final two overs.
"Both Arshdeep and Jasprit are adept at claiming wickets and limiting runs. Having two of the best T20 fast bowlers globally is a tremendous asset. Arshdeep's contribution, particularly in the powerplay with his ball movement, was invaluable," Aaron stated.
“He bowled tightly against pivotal batsmen like Travis Head and Josh Inglis, taking essential wickets and applying pressure. Although Marcus Stoinis performed admirably, Arshdeep's wickets were crucial for India's efforts," he added during an interview on JioStar.
Further discussing the duo's wicket-taking abilities, Aaron remarked, "Both bowlers are exceptional at claiming wickets and halting runs, making them irreplaceable. Arshdeep’s prowess during the powerplay, especially his ability to swing the ball and secure key wickets, is invaluable."
“His knack for dismissing key batsmen like Travis Head and Josh Inglis under pressure turned the tide of the match. Even if wickets do not always reflect his effort, his role is crucial for India’s triumphs,” he elaborated.
He also commended Washington Sundar for his stellar batting performance, as the all-rounder scored a match-winning 49 not out off only 23 balls. "Washington has shown his batting effectiveness, particularly against short-pitched balls, as evidenced in the last IPL,” he remarked.
“His first five boundaries against fast bowlers came from short deliveries, clearly demonstrating his proficiency. Australia may have underestimated his ability to handle short balls, and his early six off Nathan Ellis perfectly set the tone. Although he didn't bowl in this match, his batting contributions were essential, and he could easily be considered the player of the match for this T20 international," he concluded.
