Axar violated Article 2.22 of the code of conduct associated with maintaining an adequate over rate. According to Article 2.22, the captain is penalized Rs 12 lakh for the initial slow over-rate infraction in a season.
"Since this was his team's first infringement of the season under Article 2.22 of the IPL's Code of Conduct, concerning minimum over-rate violations, Patel was fined Rs 12 lakhs," stated the IPL.

In the match, MI managed to secure a thrilling 12-run victory against DC at the Arun Jaitley Stadium after scoring 205/5. Despite a remarkable performance from Karun Nair, who scored 89 off 40 balls, the home team fell short in this high-scoring encounter, undone by Karn Sharma's
As Ashutosh Sharma and Vipraj Nigam threatened to stage another comeback for DC, their lackluster batting performance combined with MI's outstanding fielding and bowling, along with a ball change after the 13th over, resulted in DC being bowled out for 193 in 19 overs.
This also marked a halt to DC's winning streak upon their return to their home ground.
"We had the game under control. There were some soft dismissals and poor shots from the middle order. You can’t always rely on the lower order to deliver. No need to overthink; it was just one of those days. I was satisfied at the halfway point. Initially, the ball was stopping, but it improved later, and the dew helped us further.
"Out of our three spinners, two are capable of bowling during the powerplay and at the death. Kuldeep is performing exceptionally well. We need to move on from this game from a batting perspective," Axar remarked after the match.
With this victory, MI climbed to seventh place in the standings, achieving two wins from six matches, while DC remained in second place after experiencing their first loss of the season in five games.
