New Delhi, July 23 (NationPress) As the fourth Test between India and England approaches, former Indian cricketer Sanjay Bangar expressed his views on Jasprit Bumrah being part of the playing XI. He emphasized that with the inclusion of this pace sensation, the team possesses the necessary ammunition to secure victory and equalize the series.
To manage Bumrah's workload effectively, it was determined that he would participate in only three Tests during the tour. Having already played in Leeds and London, the star pacer is set to take the field in the fourth Test at Old Trafford.
"The news of Bumrah participating in the fourth Test is indeed encouraging. One positive aspect is the scheduling, which allows ample recovery time between matches. Jasprit Bumrah significantly enhances the strength of any team, especially the Indian squad. His recent overseas Test record has consistently improved, and with his presence, I believe India has the essential ammunition to win and level the series.
"Given that the series is at stake, India must reclaim its footing. If there's one bowler capable of leveraging any conditions, it’s Bumrah. The previous three Tests were relatively easier for batting, but the conditions in this Test are expected to favor bowlers. This suggests that we may not need to bowl excessively, helping India to dismiss the English batsmen cheaply," Bangar remarked on JioHotstar.
In addition to Bumrah's availability, India's situation has further improved with vice-captain Rishabh Pant successfully completing a two-hour training session after recovering from a finger injury sustained at Lord's.
"Pant's return as a wicketkeeper is a very positive development as it ensures the team's structure remains intact. If any discomfort arises, KL Rahul is also a capable backup option. Overall, having Pant behind the stumps provides India the stability they need in their lineup. He is mentally resilient and thrives under pressure, making him an asset in challenging situations," Bangar concluded.
