In a competitive field, Wasim Khan from Delhi and Abhishek Kumar from Panchkula were tied for fourth place, each finishing with scores of four-under 67.
The 22-year-old twins, Bishmadpal and Brashwarpal, climbed to the top on Tuesday, with Bishmadpal recording six birdies and one bogey, while Brashwarpal made seven birdies along with two bogeys. The younger Manjot Singh, aged 19, achieved six birdies and one bogey, joining the brothers in the lead.
Despite recovering from a wrist injury sustained late last season, Bishmadpal excelled, making birdies on four of the five par-5 holes and successfully navigating out of tricky situations from the hazard and trees with remarkable second shots.
Bishmadpal expressed, “My strategy and execution were flawless today as I only attacked when I sensed a strong chance to score. My performance at the Q School last month, where I secured my ‘A’ card on the PGTI, has significantly boosted my confidence for this year.”
Brashwarpal showcased precision throughout the day, leaving himself with tap-in birdies on three occasions and sinking a 20-footer for a birdie. “All aspects of my game were on point today, particularly my iron shots, chipping, and putting. I’ve also focused on the mental side of my game lately, which has proven beneficial. I am gaining confidence from my successful performances in the latter part of the 2024 PGTI season,” Brashwarpal noted.
Local player Swatanter Kumar from Phillaur is tied for 20th after carding a score of 71 on the first day, while fellow Phillaur golfer Amit Kumar finished with a score of 74, placing him at tied 43rd.
