Cricket Stars Tendulkar and Shami Honor Former PM Manmohan Singh

New Delhi, Dec 27 (NationPress) The nation is grieving the loss of former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh, as cricketing icons Sachin Tendulkar and Mohammed Shami have expressed their sincere condolences.
Dr. Manmohan Singh, aged 92, passed away at AIIMS on Thursday night after a decline in his health. He leaves behind his wife, Gursharan Kaur, and their three daughters.
Tendulkar shared his tribute on 'X', stating, “The passing of Dr. Manmohan Singh ji is a significant loss for India. His immense contributions will forever be etched in our memories. My thoughts are with his family and loved ones as we grieve his departure. Om Shanti.”
Mohammed Shami conveyed similar feelings, emphasizing the former PM’s visionary leadership. “He was a remarkable visionary and an exceptional leader. His impact on India’s advancement and his guidance will be remembered for years to come. My deepest condolences to his family and loved ones. May his soul find peace,” the bowler stated in an Instagram story.
Dr. Manmohan Singh is widely recognized for his pivotal role in India’s economic liberalization. Serving as Finance Minister in 1991, he initiated transformative reforms during a financial crisis, allowing India to engage with global markets and laying the groundwork for decades of economic growth.
As Prime Minister, he guided the country through a period of substantial economic growth while launching significant social initiatives like the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA).
The remains of Dr. Manmohan Singh will be displayed at his residence, located at 3, Motilal Nehru Road in the national capital, on Friday, allowing the public to pay their respects.
On Saturday morning, his body will be moved to the Congress headquarters, where party members can pay their respects with floral tributes from 8:30 am to 9:30 am. The former Prime Minister will receive a state funeral.
A half-day holiday will be observed in all Central Government offices and CPSUs on the day of the funeral.
