Barcelona, Feb 8 (NationPress) As FC Barcelona prepares for their match against Sevilla at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan on Monday (IST), head coach Hansi Flick addressed the possibility of a contract extension for himself. Flick, who became part of the Catalan club in May 2024, has a contract that is set to end in June 2026.

"I am not under pressure. I enjoy working for this club. We have significant strength, and our youth players are exceptional. I have time; my contract lasts for another year, which is a considerable duration for a coach. We will see what happens," Flick stated during the pre-match press briefing.

Before the Sevilla versus Barcelona clash on Sunday, another crucial league match is scheduled - the Madrid derby featuring Real and Atletico. Currently, the two rivals are just one point apart, with Real Madrid slightly ahead.

"First, we focus on Barça, then we’ll have dinner and yes, we’ll watch the derby. While we must concentrate on our own performance, the derby is one of the premier matchups in Europe, and I am eager to watch it," Flick expressed. "The entire team is performing well, demonstrating their capabilities, and we are creating abundant opportunities. Having many players fit again is beneficial and brings fresh energy," he remarked about his squad.

"I am quite pleased. There exists a great atmosphere in the locker room, which is crucial. Everyone is putting in their effort, and that is wonderful," he added.

The Barça coach highlighted the versatility within his squad, mentioning Ferran Torres and Eric Garcia during the conference. "Ferran can occupy various positions on the field. I am truly satisfied with his contributions. He is very professional and puts in excellent training. His confidence is beneficial for the team," Flick noted.

Reflecting on his centre-back, he stated: "Eric Garcia is a highly adaptable player. He performs well, and his happiness contributes to ours as well."

"I enjoy collaborating with this group of players. We have immense potential, especially with talents emerging from La Masia," Flick concluded.
