La Liga: Barcelona's Coach Flick Expresses Discontent Over Olmo's Status

Madrid (Spain), Jan 4 (NationPress) FC Barcelona's coach Hansi Flick has acknowledged his discontent with the current predicament that prevents the club from registering Spain international Dani Olmo and forward Pau Victor in the first-team lineup for the latter half of the season.

The club's failure to meet the financial fair-play standards before the New Year's deadline resulted in both players being deregistered from the first-team squad, as regulations indicate that a player cannot be registered more than once in a single season with the same team.

This situation means that Olmo could potentially leave the club on a free transfer. Although the player's representative asserted on Friday that there was no intention to depart unless an appeal to the Spanish Football Federation succeeds, Flick is set to lose a critical player, as reported by Xinhua.

“To be honest, I am not pleased with the circumstances; however, we must accept reality and remain professional,” said the coach in anticipation of Saturday's Copa del Rey third-round match against lower league Barbastro.

“My focus is on football; we must coach, and the players must train—everyone has to fulfill their responsibilities,” added Flick, who mentioned he has maintained regular communication with club president Joan Laporta. “I remain hopeful, yet often one must wait for decisions to unfold. I have complete faith that the club will handle this situation,” he further remarked.

Flick also indicated that he had communicated with both Olmo and Victor, stating, “This is a challenging predicament, but both are eager to represent Barca and are crucial to our team.”

Additionally, the coach commented on rumors regarding defender Eric Garcia potentially returning to Girona if Barça can register Olmo and Victor. “I am uncertain about what might happen. He is a fantastic player, but the issue stems from his recent injury,” Flick noted.
