Gaurav Sharma, the Powerlifter-turned-Shooter, Initiates Cleanliness Campaign at Yamuna Ghats

New Delhi, Dec 29 (NationPress) In an effort to promote awareness for the River Yamuna, Gaurav Sharma Mahant, a world champion powerlifter-turned-shooter, spearheaded a cleanliness drive at the Yamuna ghats in the National Capital on Sunday.

While speaking to the media, Gaurav remarked, "The Yamuna river holds immense significance for us, akin to the Ganga. All residents of Delhi should step up and assist in this initiative. During our cleanup of the ghats, we discovered numerous idols discarded by individuals along with beer bottles."

"This was truly disheartening. We profess that the Yamuna is like a mother to us, yet we treat her in such a manner. It is crucial for individuals to take the lead in cleaning the Yamuna," he further stated.

Notable participants in the cleanliness drive included Acharya Tushar Katyan, Acharya Nitin Sharma, Acharya Ankit Goswami, Acharya Mukesh Shukla, Tarun Verma, Rajiv Gupta, Ajay Kashyap, Chetan Gupta, Abhinandan Yadav, and Sunil.

Under the auspices of the Pingaksh Foundation, Gaurav engaged in this initiative at the ghats.

Last year, Gaurav provided food and water supplies to those affected by flooding in Delhi, as many parts of the city were inundated when the water levels of the Yamuna rose dramatically due to heavy rains.

During the Covid lockdown, Gaurav, who also serves as a Mahant at a temple in Chandni Chowk, distributed food to the homeless throughout the city.
