Saint Vincent, March 22 (NationPress) After a less-than-stellar performance in the opening T20I against the West Indies, Georgia Voll made a remarkable comeback on Sunday. The young opener emphasized that she is far from finding her comfort zone at the top of Australia’s batting order and is eager to refine her skills during the Caribbean tour.

Following a modest score of just eight runs off 10 balls in the first match, Voll bounced back with a dynamic 39 runs off 23 balls in the second T20I, playing a pivotal role in Australia’s victory. The 22-year-old credited her enhanced strategy for this turnaround and continues to develop her capabilities as an opener.

"It’s crucial for us to provide the team with a strong start, and that’s my responsibility at the top, to aggressively pursue the game and maximize our chances of achieving a substantial total. I was pleased to contribute tonight. I had a brief discussion with (assistant coach) Dan Marsh earlier about what I needed to adjust," Voll stated as reported by cricket.com.au after Australia’s 17-run triumph in the second T20I.

“I probably overanalyzed the situation a bit too much (on Thursday) regarding how I should approach it, so tonight I focused on keeping things simple, and that worked out well for me. I managed to capitalize on a few loose deliveries early on and settled into my innings that way,” she added.

Last October, Georgia Voll had a brief encounter with World Cup cricket in India, serving as a reserve batter for Australia and stepping in as an opener in place of Alyssa Healy on two occasions.

However, the forthcoming ICC Women's T20 World Cup in the UK will be her first tournament as a regular member of the squad, with the Queenslander expected to play a crucial role. Voll also gained valuable experience in UK conditions during last year’s The Hundred, which she can draw upon when Australia arrives in late May for the tournament, set to commence on June 12.

"Adapting to various conditions is vital, especially as I’m still relatively new to the team, and understanding different environments around the world is essential for me right now. It's incredibly exciting to be here, opening the batting for Australia and gaining that experience.

"I don't believe you can ever truly feel comfortable ... it’s hugely important to get out there and gain experience in diverse conditions against different opponents. Consistently opening the batting alongside Beth Mooney is a remarkable experience – it’s something I aspire to continue for a long time," Voll remarked.
