Jaipur, Sep 18 (NationPress) Mohit Chhillar expressed high admiration for the Haryana Steelers defenders after their thrilling 43-32 win against the three-time champions Patna Pirates on Wednesday during the ongoing Pro Kabaddi League Season 12.
Two matches took place at the SMS indoor stadium in Jaipur on Wednesday. While Haryana triumphed over Patna, Dabang Delhi K.C. narrowly defeated Telugu Titans with a score of 33-29.
“The defensive pair of Jaideep and Rahul Sethpal performed exceptionally well against the Patna Pirates. The entire defensive unit has been consistently strong. Initially, I was concerned about the absence of Rahul Ahri in the starting lineup, but Hardeep, Jaideep, and Rahul Sethpal stepped up their game. Aside from one corner defender, the whole unit was impressive. I take pride in stating that the defenders from Haryana have operated at an extraordinarily high level, and this victory is a testament to their dedication,” Chhillar remarked on JioStar.
Rishank Devadiga also analyzed the challenges faced by the Patna Pirates, saying: “The Patna Pirates raiders had a tough match. From the start, Haryana's defense was relentless against Ayan Lohchab. They effectively neutralized his raiding attempts. He kept trying the same tactics repeatedly, which allowed our defense to dominate him. He needed to diversify his approach but couldn't. Ayan managed only four successful raids out of ten attempts, showcasing that it just wasn't his day. The day certainly belonged to Haryana's defense; they left no room for the raiders to succeed.”
Despite the defeat, Patna Pirates' raider Milan Dahiya showcased remarkable skill with an impressive raid against Haryana. Devadiga praised this performance, stating:
“That was indeed a spectacular raid. Milan Dahiya displayed remarkable awareness, knowing he was near the mid-line and not giving up until the very end. The struggle continued, and in kabaddi, you cannot release the raider until 30 seconds have passed. The defense from Haryana made a mistake by presuming the tackle was completed. However, Milan persevered, crossed the line, and secured an incredible five points.”
Devadiga also commended head coach Joginder Narwal for his bold auction choices while lauding Neeraj Narwal's performance.
“Head Coach Joginder Narwal of Dabang Delhi K.C. rightfully deserves recognition for his strategic auction selections. He made significant investments in seasoned players like Fazal Atrachali, Surjeet Singh, and Saurabh Nandal. His confidence in them helped build a competitive team around their experience. We have seen many teams struggle despite having seasoned players, but Delhi is excelling. The coach's influence is substantial. Ashu Malik was limited due to an injury, yet other players stepped up. Neeraj Narwal shined as a lead raider, contributing significantly to the team's victory with his skills and raids. The defense was solid, but the raiders also made a noteworthy impact.
