New Delhi, July 6 (NationPress) Renowned figures in Indian cricket took to social platforms to applaud India’s remarkable victory over England at Edgbaston, marking their first win at this venue. The young team, led by Shubman Gill, leveled the Anderson Tendulkar Trophy by clinching the second Test by an impressive 336 runs.

Jay Shah, the ICC Chairman, praised Gill’s batting performances, labeling them as ‘innings of extraordinary quality’ and expressed enthusiasm for the upcoming third Test at Lord’s starting July 10.

“An exceptional Test match exemplifying the depth and tenacity of Indian cricket. @ShubmanGill’s scores of 269 and 161 were innings of extraordinary quality, while Akashdeep’s 10-wicket haul marked a standout performance. Following a five-wicket loss in Leeds, India’s bowling and fielding faced criticism. However, in Birmingham, despite the absence of Jasprit Bumrah, the bowling unit excelled, highlighted by Akash Deep’s remarkable match haul of ten wickets, including a stunning 6-99 on the final day.

Sachin Tendulkar commended India’s approach to secure a result and level the series 1-1 in the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy.

Akash Deep, stepping in for Bumrah in this match, delivered a stellar fast bowling performance, troubling batters on a flat pitch, ultimately bowling England out for 271 on the final day with ample time remaining.

Yuvraj Singh remarked that the young bowler was ‘fearless and unplayable throughout the five days.
