Ranchi, March 18 (NationPress) As the concluding phase of the National Women’s Hockey League 2024-2025 commences here in Ranchi, Hockey Haryana, Hockey Association of Odisha, and Hockey Madhya Pradesh showcased impressive performances by securing victories in their respective matches.

In the opening match of the day, Hockey Haryana triumphed over Manipur Hockey with a score of 7-1 in Pool A. Saavi (32’, 37’) and Kirti (45’, 56’) each netted two goals for their team. Additionally, Khasa Shashi (11’), Supriya (54’), and Kirty (58’) contributed one goal each. For Manipur Hockey, Deena Devi Naoram (2’) managed to score a consolation goal.

Following that, Hockey Association of Odisha edged past Hockey Bengal with a narrow 1-0 victory in a tightly fought contest. Dipika Barwa (3’) scored the only goal in the first quarter.

In the third match, Hockey Madhya Pradesh secured a 2-0 win against Hockey Maharashtra in Pool A. Bhumiksha Sahu (4’) and Captain Soniya Kumre (58’) found the back of the net in the first and last quarters, respectively, sealing the win.

The opening ceremony for the National Women’s Hockey League 2025 (Final Phase) is scheduled later on Tuesday at the Marang Gomke Jaipal Singh AstroTurf Hockey Stadium.

Additionally, Hockey Jharkhand will compete against Hockey Mizoram in Pool A later on Tuesday following the ceremony.

This tournament will follow a single pool format, where each team plays against every other team once. Teams earning a victory will receive three points, while those that draw will earn one point. The team at the top of the points table after all league matches will be declared the champions of this prestigious domestic tournament.

In Phase 1, which took place last year, Hockey Haryana finished in first place with 16 points after seven matches, with Hockey Jharkhand and Hockey Association of Odisha closely trailing in second and third place, respectively, just one point behind.
