Qingdao (China), Feb 12 (IANs) The bronze medallists from the previous edition, India, commenced their campaign at the Badminton Asia Mixed Team Championships 2025 with an impressive 5-0 win over Macau in Group D at the Qingdao Sports Centre Conson Gymnasium on Wednesday.

This commanding victory ensured India's place in the knockout stage. The 2023 bronze medallists are set to compete against South Korea in their next group stage match on Thursday, aiming to solidify their group standings. The top two teams from each group will progress to the knockout phase.

The mixed doubles team of Sathish Karunakaran and Aadya Variyath initiated India’s success with a score of 21-10, 21-9 against Leong Iok Chong and Ng Weng Chi in the opening match.

Lakshya Sen then extended India’s lead to 2-0, defeating Pui Pang Fong with a score of 21-16, 21-12 in the men’s singles. Following this, Malvika Bansod secured India's advancement to the knockout stage by triumphing over Chan Hao Wai with a score of 21-15, 21-9 in the women’s singles.
