Ningbo (China), April 11 (NationPress) Dhruv Kapila and Tanisha Crasto, the final representatives from India at the Badminton Asia Championships 2025, were eliminated in the mixed doubles quarterfinals.
The Indian pair faced a challenging match, losing 22-20, 21-13 to Hong Kong's fifth-seeded team of Tang Chun Man and Tse Ying Suet on Friday.
Previously, they had a remarkable comeback against Chinese Taipei’s Ye Hong Wei and Nicole Chan, winning 12-21, 21-16, 21-18 at the Ningbo Olympic Sports Centre Gymnasium on Thursday. After dropping the first game 12-21, the Indian duo rebounded impressively, taking the second game 21-16 and clinching the decisive game 21-18.
In singles events, India's journey ended on Thursday as top players PV Sindhu, Priyanshu Rajawat, and Kiran George were eliminated in their respective second-round matches.
Sindhu fought valiantly but ultimately fell to Akane Yamaguchi with scores of 11-21, 21-16, 16-21 after a strong challenge in the second game against the former world champion from Japan.
Kiran faced world champion Kunlavut Vitidsarn but was defeated 21-19, 13-21, 16-21, while Priyanshu succumbed to Kodai Naraoka with scores of 14-21, 17-21.
In men's doubles, Hariharan Amsakarunan and Ruban Kumar Rethinasabapathi advanced to the second round after defeating Sri Lanka’s Madhuka Dulanjana and Lahiru Weerasinghe, and will face the Paris Olympic bronze medalists Aaron Chia and Soh Wooi Yik.
