New Delhi, April 15 (NationPress) India’s mixed doubles team of Tanisha Crasto and Dhruv Kapila has reached a remarkable career milestone by climbing to a career-high world No. 17 in the latest Badminton World Federation (BWF) rankings released on Tuesday.

This achievement follows their outstanding performance in the quarter-finals of the 2025 Badminton Asia Championships, making them the most successful Indian duo in this tournament where India, for the second consecutive year, did not secure a medal.

Crasto and Kapila improved their position by one spot, accumulating 46,229 points from 13 tournaments, and are increasingly proving to be a formidable force in India’s doubles badminton scene.

On the other hand, the injury-plagued pair of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty, who did not participate in the continental championship, have fallen to world No. 11 in men’s doubles. Likewise, Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand have also dropped one rank to world No. 10 in women’s doubles. Despite this dip, the Treesa-Gayatri duo continues to be the only Indian pair within the top 10 across all categories.

Currently, there is no Indian representation in the singles top 10, marking a rare moment in Indian badminton where the three highest-ranked players are all from the doubles disciplines. In singles, Lakshya Sen and PV Sindhu hold the title of top-ranked Indian players, both sitting at 18th in their respective men’s and women’s rankings. Sen’s early exit from the Badminton Asia Championships cost him two positions, while Sindhu fell one spot despite reaching the second round.

HS Prannoy, a pivotal player in India’s historic Thomas Cup victory in 2022, has descended to world No. 30. However, on a brighter note, Priyanshu Rajawat and Kiran George have made gains in the men’s singles rankings. Rajawat advanced to 36th with a two-position climb, while Kiran George ascended to 35th after consistent performances.
