New Delhi, April 16 (NationPress) Both Rajasthan Royals and Delhi Capitals are maintaining their original line-ups as the visiting captain Sanju Samson won the toss and chose to bowl first in Match 32 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium here on Wednesday. DC aims to recover after a disappointing 12-run loss to Mumbai Indians (MI) during their return to home ground on Sunday, which ended their unbeaten streak in the league.
Conversely, RR is coming off a significant nine-wicket loss against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in Jaipur. Since the 2024 IPL season, teams batting first have consistently triumphed in New Delhi. After winning the toss, Samson remarked, “It appears to be a favorable wicket. It tends to improve in the latter stages. Match conditions and outcomes have varied.”
“However, we are still early in the tournament, hence we prefer to bowl first and gain an edge. This league is fiercely competitive, and sometimes we need to overlook past results. As a team, we decided to deliver a strong performance regardless of the outcome,” he explained.
DC's captain Axar Patel stated that they would have also chosen to bowl first, primarily due to the dew factor. He emphasized the need to avoid complacency with the bat following their middle-order collapse against MI. A victory for DC, currently in second place, over RR ranked eighth would enable them to reclaim the top position in the points table.
“We are now prepared to bat first and aim for a substantial score. In our last match, we performed well while chasing; it just required a few overs to go our way. We must learn from the last game and have discussed in team meetings how we could have secured a victory. We may have been a bit casual in the middle overs,” he noted.
The square boundary dimensions for today’s match are 61m and 62m respectively, with the straight boundary measuring 72m when the bowler delivers from the Willingdon End. According to the pitch report, Shane Watson suggested that there will be some grip for both spinners and pace bowlers, particularly if they utilize change-up deliveries.
