Ahilyanagar (Maharashtra), Dec 8 (NationPress) Dharashiv and Sangli claimed victory in the boys' and girls' divisions, respectively, during the 51st Junior State Kho Kho Championship organized by the Maharashtra State Kho Kho Association (MSKKA) in Ahilyanagar.
Over the span of four days, a total of 720 athletes representing 24 districts across Maharashtra participated in this championship, which wrapped up on Sunday. The event was formatted as a league-cum-knockout, featuring 40 matches in both boys’ and girls’ sections.
In the boys’ category, Solapur finished as runners-up, while Sangli and Pune shared the third position. In the girls’ section, Thane took the runners-up spot, with Dharashiv and Solapur jointly claiming third.
Dr. Chandrajit Jadhav, General Secretary of the Maharashtra Kho Kho Association, noted, "The extensive participation showcases the robust popularity of Kho Kho in our state. This junior championship serves as a crucial platform to discover and foster upcoming talent."
The event also acknowledged exceptional players, naming Sotya Valvi as the Best Defender, Chandanshiv Shambhuraj as Best Attacker, and Vasave Jitendra as Best All-Rounder for boys. For the girls, Tamkhade Shrawani was named Best Defender, Jagdale Praniti as Best Attacker, and Chafe Sanika as Best All-Rounder.
Organized under the auspices of the Kho Kho Federation of India (KKFI), this event was facilitated by the Maharashtra Kho Kho Association with support from the Ahilyanagar District Kho Kho Association.
The 51st Junior State Kho Kho Championship provided a vital opportunity for young players to demonstrate their abilities and secure positions in state teams for the upcoming 44th Junior National Kho Kho Championship (for boys and girls) slated to take place in Karnataka from December 31, 2025, to January 4, 2026.
