Hyderabad, March 23 (NationPress) Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan expressed gratitude for the support he received from captain Pat Cummins and head coach Daniel Vettori after achieving his first century in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 against Rajasthan Royals (RR) this Sunday.

Kishan scored an impressive unbeaten 106 off 47 balls, featuring 11 fours and six sixes, helping his team to a total of 286/6 in 20 overs, marking the second-highest score in IPL history. He was awarded Player of the Match as SRH secured victory by 44 runs, kicking off their season in a remarkable fashion.

Opening batsman Travis Head also made a significant contribution with 67 runs off 31 balls, while Nitish Kumar Reddy and Heinrich Klaasen chipped in with quick scores of 30 and 34 respectively to achieve the formidable total.

Reflecting on his performance, Kishan acknowledged the effort he put into his practice sessions.

"The nervousness was present. Observing the team, Pat and the coach instilled a lot of confidence in me. The atmosphere is very calming. I thoroughly enjoyed my time at the crease. I had ample time; I practiced extensively and focused on my batting. The preparation was solid.

"You can see Abhishek Sharma and Head playing that kind of game. It gives you confidence. Pat understands what the team needs. We must enjoy our gameplay. Planning is essential; don't hesitate to get out," Kishan stated during the post-match presentation.

In pursuit of 287, Rajasthan could only manage 242/6 in 20 overs, with half-centuries from Sanju Samson (66) and Dhruv Jurel (70). For SRH, Simranjeet Singh and Harshal Patel each took two wickets.

Rajasthan began their innings poorly, losing opener Yashasvi Jaiswal (1), captain Riyan Parag (4), and Nitish Rana (11) within the first five overs. However, substitute player Sanju Samson and Dhruv Jurel revitalized Rajasthan's innings, forming a vital 111-run partnership for the fourth wicket.

Both Samson and Jurel reached their half-centuries in 26 and 28 balls, respectively. Just when Rajasthan seemed to be in control, pacer Harshal Patel swung the momentum back to Hyderabad by dismissing Samson (66) in the 14th over.

In the following over, spinner Adam Zampa sent Jurel back for 70, which included six sixes and five fours, dealing a significant blow to RR.

Ultimately, Shimron Hetmyer and Shubham Dubey fought valiantly but fell short. Hetmyer scored a brisk 42 off 23 balls, while Dubey finished with 34 not out off 11 balls, at an explosive strike rate of 309.09, aided by four sixes and a four.
