London, April 30 (NationPress) Lucas Bergvall has officially penned a new contract with Tottenham Hotspur, extending his stay until 2031, as confirmed by the Premier League club.
After reaching an agreement with the club in February 2024, Lucas joined the Spurs on July 1, arriving from the Swedish Allsvenskan team Djurgarden.
In an impressive debut season, the 19-year-old has made a total of 45 appearances across all competitions, with his first match occurring against Leicester City in the opening game of the 2024/25 season.
He scored his inaugural goal for the club during a 1-0 win over Liverpool in the Carabao Cup semi-final first leg in January 2025 and has contributed four assists throughout the Premier League and UEFA Europa League.
Expressing his enthusiasm for the future after signing the new deal, Bergvall acknowledged that he has undergone significant growth both on and off the field since his arrival, stating he is delighted to have committed his future to the club.
"I’m truly excited and grateful to everyone who has supported me, and I look forward to continuing this journey. It’s a club with tremendous ambitions, and I’m really enjoying my time here and playing for this incredible football club," Bergvall shared with Spurs.
“I’ve learned a lot. Adapting to a new country and culture, having Deki (Dejan Kulusevski) assist me in the beginning was helpful, but living independently, managing meals, and other responsibilities... it’s not just about being a footballer; it encompasses everything around it. You have to handle your car, your residence... so I believe I've developed significantly as both a person and a player," he added.
After representing Sweden at the Under-21, Under-19, and Under-17 levels, Lucas made his senior international debut in January 2024 against Estonia and has since earned four caps for his country.
