New Delhi, April 17 (NationPress) Delhi Capitals bowling coach Munaf Patel has been penalized with a fine amounting to 25 percent of his match fees and has received one demerit point for violating the IPL Code of Conduct during his team's match against Rajasthan Royals at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Wednesday.

According to a statement from the IPL on Thursday, "Munaf Patel acknowledged the Level 1 offence under Article 2.20 - which relates to actions that oppose the spirit of the game - and accepted the sanction imposed by the Match Referee."

It was mentioned that, "For Level 1 violations of the Code of Conduct, the Match Referee's verdict is conclusive and must be adhered to."

The altercation took place while Delhi was bowling, when the fourth umpire allegedly prevented Delhi's reserve player from entering the field to relay a message from Patel. The former Indian pacer was observed arguing with the umpire while adjusting his shoelaces at the boundary. Footage of the encounter quickly gained traction on social media.

In a dramatic climax, Delhi Capitals secured a remarkable Super Over victory, thanks to Mitchell Starc's exceptional bowling. He not only defended nine runs in the final over against established batsmen Dhruv Jurel and Shimron Hetmyer but also limited Rajasthan to just 11 runs in the Super Over.

KL Rahul and Tristan Stubbs led the home team to triumph, marking their first win of the season at Arun Jaitley Stadium.

Starc was honored with the Player of the Match title for his impressive bowling display, concluding with figures of 1-36 in four overs while also securing two wickets in the Super Over.

This victory propelled Delhi to reclaim the top position with 10 points from six matches, setting the stage for their upcoming clash against Gujarat Titans at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Saturday.
