Neeraj Chopra to Host Elite Javelin Competition in India

Mumbai, Jan 11 (NationPress) In a groundbreaking development for Indian athletics, two-time Olympic champion Neeraj Chopra is set to introduce a Continental Tour javelin-only event in India. Although the specific location is still under consideration, the competition is scheduled for May this year.
This remarkable event, organized in collaboration with JSW Sports and with the backing of World Athletics and the Athletics Federation of India, will feature some of the top male and female javelin throwers from around the globe, with Chopra himself leading the lineup by competing on Indian soil for the first time.
Chopra expressed his enthusiasm for the event, stating, “It has been a longstanding dream of mine to bring a world-class javelin competition to India. Thanks to the collaboration with JSW Sports and the Athletics Federation of India, we are making this vision a reality. I am confident that both my fellow athletes and the Indian fans will create an unforgettable experience that will be talked about for years to come. I am eager to see how grand we can make this event.”
Both Chopra and JSW Sports are eager to establish this competition as an annual highlight in the global athletics calendar, with aspirations to incorporate additional track and field events in the future.

The meet also aspires to inspire the next generation of Indian athletes and to promote the health and fitness initiatives championed by the Government of India. With the AFI making concerted efforts in track and field, India has made significant strides at both continental and global levels, achieving records and numerous milestones.
