Nuno Espirito Santo Named Premier League's December Manager of the Month

Nottingham, Jan 10 (NationPress) Nuno Espirito Santo has clinched the Premier League Manager of the Month title for the second occasion this season. During December, his team, Nottingham Forest, achieved victory in five out of six matches, marking a successful festive period.

He has now made history as the first manager this season to earn this award twice.

The winning streak initiated at Old Trafford, where goals from Nikola Milenkovic, Morgan Gibbs-White, and Chris Wood led to an impressive away triumph over Manchester United.

In the subsequent four games, Nuno's squad conceded only once while netting seven goals. The lone goal against them occurred during a home match against Aston Villa, who initially took the lead at The City Ground. This match marked the first instance this season where the team came from behind to secure three points, as Milenkovic scored his second goal in consecutive games to equalize in the 87th minute, followed by a dramatic late winner from Anthony Elanga.

A remarkable away victory against Brentford followed, where Ola Aina and Elanga found the net, making Forest the first team to defeat The Bees at the Gtech Community Stadium this season.

Elanga returned to scoring as Forest triumphed over Spurs 1-0 on Boxing Day, thanks to a perfectly timed pass from Gibbs-White during a quick counter-attack.

A final match against Everton wrapped up the month, as Forest faced a team they had struggled against since their promotion to the Premier League for the third consecutive time. A slick combination play between Wood and Elanga saw the New Zealand forward net his 11th goal of the season. Wood later assisted Gibbs-White, whose composed left-footed finish secured all three points in Merseyside.

Currently, the club is positioned third in the Premier League table, tied with Arsenal, boasting 40 points from 20 matches and competing for a spot in the Champions League next season.
