Pathan and Raman Voice Concerns Over Turmoil Reports in Indian Dressing Room

New Delhi, Jan 1 (NationPress) Former Indian cricketers Irfan Pathan and WV Raman have voiced their concerns regarding reports of unrest and chaos within the Indian team dressing room amid the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy series in Australia.
As per a report by The Indian Express on Wednesday, there has been turmoil in the Indian camp following their 184-run defeat against Australia in the Boxing Day Test held in Melbourne. It was noted that head coach Gautam Gambhir reportedly expressed, “Bahut ho gaya (I’ve had enough) during his address to the team, indicating that the atmosphere in the dressing room is ‘far from ideal’.
The report also indicated that Gambhir criticized some players for focusing on their individual game instead of adapting their shots to the situation. He suggested that he had allowed the team to operate independently for the “last six months” but would now “decide” how they would approach the longer format of the game.
Furthermore, it was mentioned that Gambhir warned that moving forward, players who do not comply with his established team strategy would receive a “thank you”, and that he had been considering the inclusion of veteran batter Cheteshwar Pujara, a suggestion that was rejected by the selection committee.
The revelations have left both Pathan and Raman, who formerly coached the Indian women’s team, feeling discontent, especially with the fifth and final Test of the series set to commence on January 3 at the Sydney Cricket Ground, where India trails 2-1.
“What happens in the dressing room should stay in the dressing room!” Pathan remarked on ‘X’ on Wednesday.
#Teamindia has the opportunity to draw the #BGT. Thus, they should be allowed to focus on their tasks. This is not the moment for selective leaks that fuel discontent. That’s my humble opinion,” Raman added, who was a candidate for the India head coach position this year, which ultimately went to Gambhir.
Shreevats Goswami, a member of the India U19 World Cup-winning team from 2008, also expressed frustration over the leaks from the Indian team dressing room. “How did the dressing room conversation reach the media? This is simply unacceptable!” he stated on ‘X’.
