New Delhi, Nov 27 (NationPress) Prime Minister Narendra Modi welcomed the victorious Indian Blind Women’s Cricket Team, champions of the inaugural T20 World Cup, at his residence in Lok Kalyan Marg on Wednesday.

The Indian team etched their name in history by clinching the first-ever Blind Women's T20 World Cup in Sri Lanka, triumphing over Nepal by seven wickets in the final match.

During the event, the PM was presented with the World Cup trophy, accompanied by all players and coaching staff. He was seen engaging with the team's captain, Deepika, and other players, even personally offering them sweets.

This team's remarkable achievement highlights their flawless campaign, with India remaining undefeated throughout the tournament, showcasing their total dominance.

After winning the toss, India chose to field first and successfully limited Nepal to 114 runs for 5 wickets in their 20 overs. The chase was executed with precision as India surpassed the target in just 12.1 overs, finishing with 47 balls to spare. Khula Sharir was the standout player, scoring an unbeaten 44 runs off 27 balls, including four boundaries, leading India to a comfortable victory.

In the semi-final match, India secured a decisive nine-wicket win against Australia, while Nepal advanced to the finals by narrowly overcoming Pakistan in the other semi-final.

On their path to victory, India defeated Sri Lanka by 10 wickets, Australia by 209 runs, Nepal by 85 runs, the United States by 10 wickets, and Pakistan by 8 wickets during the group stage, before defeating Australia again in the semi-finals by 9 wickets and ultimately beating Nepal in the final.

This outstanding title run not only underscores India's consistent performance but also signifies a significant milestone for blind cricket, paving the way for greater recognition and growth of the sport in the future.
