Ahmedabad, Nov 27 (NationPress) Indian triathlete Pragnya Mohan asserts that the decision to host the 2030 Commonwealth Games in Ahmedabad signifies a pivotal moment for India's sports destiny. She described this as a remarkable advancement, stating that the event will prominently display India's sports infrastructure and potential on the global stage.

“This is a substantial progression for India that will undoubtedly establish our country as a benchmark for sports infrastructure and recognition as a sporting nation,” Pragnya remarked to IANS. She emphasized that athletes from across the nation—not limited to Ahmedabad—will gain invaluable experience from the diverse range of sports featured in the Games.

She highlighted the profound influence such visibility can have on budding athletes, stating, “The Commonwealth Games encompass an extensive array of sports, and witnessing champions compete on Indian soil will ignite a fervor in future generations like never before.”

Pragnya acknowledged Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his unwavering support in elevating India's sporting profile. Reflecting on their past interactions, she said, “He has been a key figure in my sporting journey. He was the Chief Minister when I began my athletic career, and then transitioned into the role of Prime Minister.”

She articulated Modi’s broader vision for the nation: “His goal is clear—he aims to elevate India across all fields, whether in sports, industry, or beyond.”

Recalling Modi’s personal engagement with athletes before the Birmingham Commonwealth Games, she mentioned his encouragement for them to strive for excellence and to bring honor to the nation.

When questioned about India's potential for medals in 2030, Pragnya admitted it was premature to predict but remained hopeful. “As an athlete from the host city, there’s a deep-seated motivation within me, and I believe my fellow athletes share this sentiment, to secure more medals on our home ground.”

She underlined the inherent advantages Indian athletes will have: “We are acclimated to the climate, familiar with the terrain, so the home-ground advantage will certainly play a role. Furthermore, the support of family, friends, fans, and the entire community—cheering for you—creates an unparalleled drive for victory.”

As Ahmedabad gears up to host one of the world’s most prestigious multi-sport events, Pragnya is convinced that the Games will not only enhance India’s medal ambitions but will also inspire a fresh wave of sporting talent nationwide.
