Premier League: Newcastle Hands Manchester United Another Defeat, Ipswich Shocks Chelsea

London, Dec 31 (NationPress) Newcastle United achieved their fourth consecutive Premier League victory, triumphing 2-0 against the faltering Manchester United at Old Trafford.
This marks Newcastle's fourth straight win, while United faces their third consecutive defeat.
The outcome secures the Magpies a spot in fifth place on the Premier League table as they enter January, just three points away from a coveted top four position with half the season still remaining.
Newcastle started strongly, taking the lead within just four minutes; excellent midfield play resulted in Hall's precise cross, which was expertly headed in by Isak.
The lead was soon doubled in a similar manner, as Joelinton outjumped Lisandro Martinez to score past Andre Onana, while Isak was denied a third goal by an offside flag.
Rasmus Hojlund narrowly missed the target as the hosts tried to respond, with Casemiro failing to convert from close range after a mistake by Fabian Schar.
After halftime, Amorim’s side continued to press and nearly equalized when Harry Maguire hit the post just before the hour mark.
Substitute Leny Yoro also headed wide from a corner, as the breakthrough remained elusive for the Red Devils, with Newcastle managing to secure only their second Premier League win at Old Trafford, as reported by Premier League.
"Alexander Isak has been exceptionally good. His overall game is incredibly strong. He has the ability to contribute in various ways. Most importantly, he positions himself perfectly to score goals. Early in the match, it was a fantastic cross from Lewis Hall, and Alex was right there with the header," stated Newcastle manager Eddie Howe.
United manager Ruben Amorim expressed, "It is incredibly challenging. This is one of the lowest points in our club's history, and we must face that. Another defeat in front of our own fans."
In other news, Ipswich Town caused an upset by defeating Chelsea 2-0, with Liam Delap being the standout performer in their first home victory of the Premier League season.
A penalty converted by Liam Delap and a goal from Omari Hutchinson sealed a hard-fought win for Ipswich.
"This is one of our best nights. We've been lucky to have many great nights, but this one is special for both the players and supporters.
We are striving to maintain our identity despite being under pressure frequently. We aim to uphold the values that have brought us here, while also recognizing that we are facing world-class teams each week, so we are trying to find the right balance," remarked Ipswich manager Kieran McKenna.
