Three Arrested Following Stampede at Hyderabad Cinema During 'Pushpa 2' Premiere

Hyderabad, Dec 8 (NationPress) The Hyderabad Police have detained three individuals concerning the stampede that occurred at a theatre during the premiere screening of 'Pushpa 2: The Rule' on December 4.

In this unfortunate incident, a woman lost her life while her son sustained serious injuries at the Sandhya Theatre, where the premiere was attended by actor Allu Arjun.

The Chikkadpally Police, who have filed a case against the theatre's management, Allu Arjun, and his crew, arrested the theatre's owner, the general manager, and the security manager.

These individuals were presented in court, where they were placed in judicial custody.

On December 5, the Hyderabad Police initiated legal proceedings against Allu Arjun, his security personnel, and the management of Sandhya 70mm Theatre based on a complaint from the husband of the deceased woman.

The Chikkadpally Police Station has filed charges under sections 105 (Culpable homicide not resulting in murder) and 118(1) (Deliberately causing injury) in conjunction with 3(5) BNS.

Authorities indicated that there was no prior notification from the theatre management or the actor's team regarding their attendance.

Furthermore, the theatre management failed to implement any extra security measures to handle the large crowd.

Revathi (35) and her son Sri Tej (13) experienced suffocation due to the overwhelming number of people, prompting police officers present to rescue them from the crowd in the lower balcony. They performed CPR on the boy and quickly transported them to the nearby Durgabai Deshmukh Hospital.

Medical staff at Durgabai Deshmukh Hospital confirmed Revathi's passing, and her son Sri Tej was advised to be transferred to a different hospital for advanced treatment.

On December 6, Allu Arjun publicly expressed his sorrow over the incident and pledged Rs 25 lakh to assist the deceased's family, stating he is 'deeply heartbroken'.

The actor assured the grieving family that he would personally visit them and provide any necessary support.

Additionally, Allu Arjun committed to covering the medical expenses for the critically injured boy.

"I am deeply heartbroken by the tragic event at Sandhya Theatre. My sincere condolences go to the grieving family during this incredibly challenging period. I want to assure them they are not alone in their sorrow and will meet them personally. While respecting their need for privacy to mourn, I am dedicated to extending every possible support to help them through this difficult journey," Allu Arjun shared on X.
