Allu Arjun's Team Faces Legal Action Following Woman's Death in Hyderabad Theatre Stampede

Hyderabad, Dec 5 (NationPress) The police in Hyderabad have initiated legal proceedings against actor Allu Arjun's team and the management of Sandhra 70mm Theatre concerning the death of a woman during a stampede that occurred during the premiere screening of ‘Pushpa 2: The Rule’ on Wednesday night.

Authorities stated that there was no prior notification from the theatre management or the actor's team regarding their attendance at the venue. Furthermore, the theatre management failed to implement any additional security measures to control the crowd.

Both Allu Arjun’s team and the theatre management have been charged with culpable homicide not amounting to murder.

A case has been filed at Chikkadpally Police Station based on a complaint lodged by the family of the deceased, citing violations under sections 105 (Culpable homicide not amounting to murder), 118(1) (Voluntarily causing hurt) in conjunction with 3(5) BNS.

Akshansh Yadav, Deputy Commissioner of Police for the Central Zone, stated that the investigation is ongoing.

“We will take stringent legal action against all individuals responsible for the chaotic conditions in the theatre that resulted in the death of a woman and injuries to others,” he remarked.

Detailing the incident, the DCP explained that the premiere of ‘Pushpa 2’ was set for 9:40 p.m. at Sandhya 70mm theatre located at Chikkadpally RTC X road, which attracted a large crowd eager to see the film and catch a glimpse of the lead actors.

“However, there was no advance notice from the theatre management or the actor's team about their presence at the venue. The theatre management neglected to arrange for extra security to handle the crowd. Additionally, no separate entry or exit was designated for the actors’ team, despite the theatre management being aware of their arrival,” the police official stated.

At approximately 9:30 p.m., Allu Arjun arrived at the Sandhya theatre with his personal security team, prompting the gathered crowd to rush to enter the theatre alongside him. His security personnel began pushing back the throng, which exacerbated the already tense situation, allowing a significant number of people to flood into the lower balcony area.

Authorities reported that a woman named Revathi (35) and her son Sri Tej (13) experienced suffocation due to the overwhelming crowd. Police on duty managed to extract them from the crowd and administered CPR on her son before transferring them to the nearby Durgabai Deshmukh Hospital.

The medical staff at Durgabai Deshmukh Hospital confirmed that Revathi had passed away, while her son Sri Tej was advised to be moved to another facility for more specialized care.
