Allu Arjun Attended Theatre Despite Police Prohibition: Telangana CM

Hyderabad, Dec 21 (NationPress) Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy revealed on Saturday that actor Allu Arjun attended the premiere screening of 'Pushpa 2' at the Sandhya Theatre in Hyderabad, even though police had denied permission. This decision led to a stampede that tragically caused the death of a woman and left her son injured.

During a session in the State Assembly, the Chief Minister emphasized that law enforcement had expressly advised the actor against attending the event but he chose to go anyway.

He explained that permission was withheld due to the theatre's limited entry and exit points, which raised concerns about potential chaos with a celebrity's presence.

The Chief Minister made this statement in response to AIMIM leader Akbaruddin Owaisi, who brought up the incident from December 4 at Sandhya Theatre.

Revanth Reddy noted that had Allu Arjun simply attended, watched the film, and departed quietly, there likely would not have been an issue.

“However, on his way to the theatre, he initiated a road show, greeting fans from his car’s sunroof. This attracted crowds from nearby theatres to Sandhya Theatre, ultimately leading to the stampede,” he stated.

He mentioned that a woman named Revathi lost her life during the incident while her son suffered severe injuries and fell into a coma. “The woman died while grasping her son's hand,” he lamented.

The Assistant Commissioner of Police entered the theatre to inform the actor about the incident and warned of potential law and order issues, but the actor disregarded the warning. Only after the Deputy Commissioner of Police threatened to arrest him did Allu Arjun leave in his vehicle.

Even during his return, he continued to wave to crowds from the sunroof, the Chief Minister pointed out.

“It was in this context that police filed charges against the actor and the theatre management. Due to their irresponsible actions, the police were compelled to fulfill their duties,” he criticized, also condemning political entities that condemned the arrest of Allu Arjun.

Moreover, Revanth Reddy expressed disappointment that Allu Arjun and the film producer had not reached out to the family of the deceased or the injured boy.

“When individuals who exhibited a lack of humanity faced police action, those who held ministerial positions for a decade criticized the government,” he remarked, seemingly addressing BRS leaders and former ministers K.T. Rama Rao and Harish Rao.

The Chief Minister stated that while his government supports special show permissions to uplift the film industry, it does not equate to silence in the face of human tragedies. “Is there a different law for film and political figures? Our administration operates under the Constitution established by Ambedkar,” he asserted.

He questioned whether any of the film personalities who rushed to greet the actor post-release had taken the time to visit the affected family.

“I am unsure about their self-perception. Conduct your business, but we will not accept compromising lives. We will not tolerate this as long as we are in power,” he concluded.
