Tragic Incident: Woman Loses Life, Son Injured in Stampede at 'Pushpa 2' Premiere in Hyderabad

Hyderabad, Dec 5 (NationPress) A woman tragically passed away and her son was injured in a stampede that took place at a theatre in Hyderabad during the premiere screening of Pushpa 2: The Rule.

The unfortunate event occurred at Sandhya Theatre located at RTC X Roads when police were compelled to conduct a lathi-charge to manage the crowd of fans eager to catch a glimpse of Allu Arjun during the film's premiere on Wednesday.

A woman and her nine-year-old son collapsed and were rushed to a hospital. Police officers performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) on the boy prior to his transfer to the medical facility.

The woman, identified as Revati (39), unfortunately succumbed to her injuries at KIMS Hospital in the early hours of Thursday. Her son, Sriteja (9), is currently receiving treatment.

Revati had attended the theatre with her husband Bhaskar, son Sriteja, and daughter Sanvi. Both her husband and daughter emerged from the incident unscathed.

A large crowd of fans had gathered at the theatre to see the actor, who was present with several members of the film crew.

In the midst of the chaos, the main entrance of the theatre also collapsed. As Allu Arjun was inside the theatre, the police heightened security measures to avert any further incidents.

In response to the situation, Chikkadpalli Police have initiated a case and are currently conducting an investigation.

Directed by Sukumar, Pushpa 2: The Rule was set to premiere in multiple languages on Thursday.

The premiere screenings commenced at 9:30 p.m. on Wednesday in select theatres across Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, and Bengaluru.

The highly anticipated film is expected to release on over 10,000 screens in both 2D and 4DX formats. However, the release of the 3D version was postponed due to last-minute delays in post-production.

Pushpa 2: The Rule serves as a sequel to the blockbuster Pushpa: The Rise, which was a tremendous success throughout India.

The film features Rashmika Mandanna as the leading lady, with Fahadh Faasil taking on a significant role. The supporting cast includes Anasuya Bharadwaj, Jagadeesh Prathap Bandari, Daali Dhananjaya, and others.

Capitalizing on the immense excitement among fans, ticket prices for the film have been increased in both Telugu states.

A public interest litigation was submitted to the Telangana High Court challenging the state government's decision to allow a hike in ticket prices. Nevertheless, the court declined to halt the film's release.
