Allu Arjun's father visits hospitalized boy injured in 'Pushpa 2' stampede

Hyderabad, Dec 18 (NationPress) The father of actor Allu Arjun, prominent producer Allu Arvind, made a visit on Wednesday to nine-year-old Sri Tej, who was injured in a stampede at the Sandhya Theatre in Hyderabad during the premiere showing of ‘Pushpa 2: The Rule’ on December 4.
The young boy remains in a critical state and is currently situated in the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit at KIMS Hospital.
During his visit, Allu Arvind engaged with the boy's family and consulted with medical professionals regarding his health.
The producer relayed that the doctors informed him of the boy’s gradual recovery, acknowledging that full recovery could take considerable time.
He expressed readiness to provide all necessary support for the boy’s recuperation and commended the government for its assistance.
Addressing the backlash directed at Allu Arjun for not visiting the hospital sooner, Allu Arvind clarified that he intended to visit the day after the incident but was advised by hospital officials to refrain from doing so to prevent further chaos.
He noted that on the same day, police initiated legal action and advised Allu Arjun against hospital visits or meeting the family. He ultimately visited after obtaining government permission.
As per a bulletin from KIMS on Tuesday, the boy is currently on mechanical ventilation with minimal oxygen and pressure support.
Tragically, Sri Tej's mother, Mogudampalli Revathi (35), lost her life in the stampede at the theater during the premiere attended by Allu Arjun.
Reports indicate that both Revathi and her son struggled to breathe amid the overwhelming crowd at the theater, where police officers on duty successfully extricated them, performed CPR, and transported them to a hospital, but Revathi was later pronounced dead.
Law enforcement has charged the theater management, Allu Arjun, and his team with culpable homicide not amounting to murder.
On December 13, Allu Arjun was briefly detained, but a local court granted him interim bail the same day. He was released from custody the following morning.
Previously, Allu Arjun pledged Rs 25 lakh in financial assistance to Revathi's family and committed to covering the costs of her son’s medical treatment.
Hyderabad City Police Commissioner C. V. Anand and Telangana Government Health Secretary Dr. Christina visited KIMS Hospital on behalf of the Telangana Government to check on Sri Tej's health status.
The Commissioner remarked that Sri Tej is currently brain dead due to the lack of breathing during the stampede, indicating that recovery would be a lengthy process.
According to the Commissioner, doctors have confirmed that he is receiving treatment with ventilator support and that the recovery process is expected to be extended.
Health Secretary Dr. Christina stated they are continuously monitoring Sri Teja's condition and are hopeful for a swift recovery.
