Nine-Year-Old Sri Tej's Condition Remains Critical Following Hyderabad Theatre Stampede

Hyderabad, Dec 17 (NationPress) The health status of nine-year-old Sri Tej, who sustained injuries in a stampede at a Hyderabad theatre during the premiere of ‘Pushpa 2: The Rule’, continues to be critical.

The child is currently receiving care in the Intensive Care Unit at KIMS Hospital. Medical professionals indicated that he is on mechanical ventilation with minimal oxygen and pressure assistance.

“His fever is decreasing, and he is on minimal inotropes; his vital signs are stable. He is managing to tolerate feeds adequately,” a statement from the hospital noted.

“Due to his static neurological state, a tracheostomy is being planned to help wean him off the ventilator,” the doctors explained.

In the meantime, Hyderabad City Police Commissioner C. V. Anand and Telangana Government Health Secretary Dr. Christina visited KIMS Hospital on behalf of the Telangana Government to check on Sri Tej's health condition following his injury during the stampede at Sandhya Theatre two weeks ago.

During their visit, the Commissioner stated that Sri Tej was brain-dead due to breathing complications during the stampede and that recovery would take considerable time. He mentioned that medical staff indicated the child is under ventilator support and that treatment is expected to be lengthy.

Health Secretary Dr. Christina added that they are consistently monitoring Sri Tej's condition and are hopeful for his swift recovery.

The incident occurred at Sandhya Theatre at RTC X Roads on December 4 during the premiere attended by the film's lead actor Allu Arjun.

As per police reports, Mogudampalli Revathi (35) and her 9-year-old son Tej experienced suffocation due to the overwhelming crowd at the theatre alongside the actor. Police on duty managed to pull them out, performed CPR, and rushed them to the hospital, where Revathi was sadly declared dead.

Authorities have charged the theatre management, Allu Arjun, and his team with culpable homicide not amounting to murder.

Allu Arjun was arrested on December 13, with a city court placing him in judicial custody for 14 days. However, the Telangana High Court granted him interim bail the same day, leading to his release the following morning.

Additionally, three other individuals implicated in the case, who were arrested earlier, have also been released on bail.
